Economic Development
Exelon’s fossil plants in West Medway, New Boston, and Framingham are part of the peaking division, which consists of 19 locations and employs 13 people. In total, the fleet paid $1.3 million in property taxes in 2010. Framingham, a 3-unit, peaker power plant generates 41 megawatts, and the West Medway Plant is a 3-unit 173-megawatt station.
Environmental Commitment
In our ongoing effort to address climate change, Exelon has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by more than 50% from 2001 levels. One of the ways Exelon accomplished this goal was by retiring a less efficient and higher-emitting fossil fuel power plant in Massachusetts.
Community Involvement
Exelon is committed to strengthening the community in which we live and serve. In 2008, Exelon made 6 grants totaling more than $16,000 to organizations in Massachusetts.
