A Growing Partner

Exelon is expanding our presence throughout Texas, bringing new innovations in clean and affordable energy to the state. Exelon seeks to improve and strengthen the communities we serve throughout the state of Texas.

Economic Development

Exelon Generation is growing in Texas. Through its employees and its corporate giving, Exelon has become a well-known member of the community. Exelon Wind, a division of Exelon Power, owns and operates 12 wind projects in Texas. The 12 wind projects are capable of producing a total of 189.8 megawatts (MW) of clean electricity. We operate two natural gas plants - Colorado Bend and Quail Run. Our fossil plants generate over  4,000 MW with 88 Exelon employees. Exelon now employs 634 residents through its operations in the state. In 2012, Exelon contributed $67 million in state tax payments.

Constellation provides commercial, industrial, public sector and government agencies, municipalities and utilities with a comprehensive array of products and services to meet electricity, natural gas, and sustainability needs. Constellation also provides competitive pricing for electricity for residential customers.

Environmental Commitment

In 2010, volunteers from Exelon's Texas plants partnered with Habitat for Humanity International to provide green home makeovers to two homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This program is designed to educate all Texas homeowners about low-cost energy-efficiency improvements they can make to save energy and lower their electric bills.  Each April, employee volunteers participate in the Lake Arlington Clean Up as part of Exelon's support of National Volunteer Week.

We have over 1,800 MW of electric generation capacity produced by combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT) in Texas.  Highly-efficient plants, CCGT’s  provide clean generation fueled by natural gas and build on the company’s commitment to clean energy as part of Exelon 2020. Exelon's 12 wind projects in the state also further the company’s commitment to clean energy.

Constellation also works with its customers to reduce energy consumption as well as offers renewable and sustainable options including:

  • Solar
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Renewable Energy certificates
  • Load response solutions

Community Involvement

Exelon also supports a variety of causes and events in Texas, including the Tarrant Area Food Bank, the All Star Equestrian Foundation, and Women that Soar.  Each April, employee volunteers participate in the Lake Arlington Clean Up as part of Exelon's support of National Volunteer Week.
