Energize your career at Exelon!<br><br> PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES<br></font><br><p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font size="4"><b><u>Lead Substation Techs</u></b> - Responsible for field operation, maintenance and high voltage testing tasks in company substations, and maintenance and high voltage testing tasks in customer substations.   Required to coordinate technical activities for supervision and may be required to lead, direct, and provide liaison for complex work.   Assists in the field technical training for subordinates.   In the Maintenance Units, directs the work of employees engaged in maintenance and technical activities on high voltage substation equipment.   Provides custodial care and operational inspection of Company substations. Evaluates test results and recommends appropriate action.   Performs advanced substation mechanical maintenance, high voltage testing and operations tasks.   Directs the installation of various high voltage substation equipment.   Ensures adherence to safety, security, fire, and permit and tagging regulations, and/or proper procedures by personnel.   Reviews and initiates changes for problems and follows-up to insure compliance. In the Operation Units, directs the work of employees engaged in field operations of the electric system who locate and clear trouble in substations and on circuits, restore electric service, provide custodial care and operational inspection of Company substations, and provide operational and maintenance inspection of Company equipment in customer substations.   (Note:  For the Operations Unit, this position performs phasing, and performs cut-in procedures for new substations and equipment. )   Establishes close liaison with all other units, sections, and departments involved in major electric construction and maintenance work to assure coordination of work efforts and integrity of the electric system.   Participates in planning major substation maintenance projects.   Displays ownership of substations.   Ensures that substations are properly inspected, monitored, operated, and secured and that repairs or adjustments to equipment are performed as required.     Responds to system/equipment problems and performs analysis to determine operability or need for repairs and advises supervision of unusual system events.   Provides input/feedback to supervision as it pertains to performance management, Core Values and general team well-being.   Must be available for emergencies and overtime.   Must be able to report to various work sites. </font></p><br><p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font size="4"> </font></p><br><p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font size="4"><b><u>Sr Substation Techs</u></b> - Install, maintain, repair, and test high voltage electrical equipment in substations including, but not limited to, transformers, circuit breakers, lightning arresters, capacitors. Install, maintain, repair, and test sump pumps, equipment nitrogen systems, station lighting, heating, receptacles and DC control systems. Install and maintain Mobile Transformers.   Performs scheduled substation inspections and routine substation services. Provide oversight of BGE  Personnel, Vendors and Contractors.   Perform planned and emergency high voltage switching and grounding operations to isolate equipment for work in substations. Perform concrete work, pours, slabs, forms. Perform rigging and lifting operations for installation and removal of structures and electrical equipment with a crane truck (JLG). Works from structures at various heights (ladders, aerial lifts, steel grating). Is required to lead technical work in the field to ensure safety, reliability and environmental compliance. Is required to conduct on-the-job training of fellow Sr. Substation Technicians and/ or Substation Technicians. Performs acceptance testing of new substation equipment. Assists others and performs functions such as control wiring repair, troubleshooting equipment and circuit problems, interpreting oil test results, maintaining, testing and repairing high voltage equipment, up to 500 kV. Operates gas dielectric and oil filtering and purifying equipment. Operates construction earth moving equipment, i. e. skid steers, mini-excavator, etc. and oversees vacuum truck soil removal. Uses instruments such as infrared thermographic equipment, meggers, Doble test sets, and capacitance meters, to evaluate equipment and systems. Uses transits, laser levels, control and hand tools to install and maintain physical support structures and electrical equipment. Assures that work conforms to specifications, drawings, safety practices and regulations.   Must be available for emergencies and overtime as needed. Works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Subject to being on-call. Must be able to report to various work sites. </font></p><br><p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><b><u><font size="4"></font></u></b> </p><br><p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font size="4"><b><u>Substation Techs</u></b> - Assist with installing, maintaining, repairing, and testing high voltage electrical equipment in substations including, but not limited to, transformers, circuit breakers, lightning arresters, capacitors, under guidance of Sr. Substation Tech and/or Lead Substation Tech.   Assist with installing, maintaining, repairing, and testing of sump pumps, equipment nitrogen systems, station lighting, heating, receptacles and DC control systems. Assist with installing and maintaining Mobile Transformers.   Performs scheduled substation inspections and routine substation services. Assist with oversight of Vendors/Contractors.   Perform high voltage switching and grounding operations to isolate equipment for work in substations with qualified person. Assist/learn concrete work, pours, slabs, forms.   Perform spare parts delivery and miscellaneous driving functions requiring a CDL.   Perform rigging and lifting operations for installation and removal of structures and electrical equipment with a crane truck (JLG). Works from structures at various heights (ladders, aerial lifts, steel grating). Must be available for emergencies and overtime as needed. Works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Subject to being on-call.
