Energize your career at Exelon!<br><br>PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION<br><br>Identify, review and monitor all state legislative activity, and conduct research and analysis of pending bills.
Coordinate the development of Pepco Holdings policy position on legislation and legislative constituency issues.
Coordinate activities internally and externally to support Pepco Holdings legislative strategies and initiatives.
Cultivate relationships among internal subject matter experts.
Build relationships and serve as the prime contact with the staffs of government officials in order to resolve constituent issues.
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Pepco Holdings PAC.
<br><br>Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Position requires travel.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES<br><br>Accountability<br><br>- Monitor, identify, and analyze key legislation, which may affect the Company.
Conduct research to support the development of Pepco Holdings position for pending legislation, which may include obtaining appropriate comments from subject matter experts within the Company.
Draft correspondence, briefing sheets and updates as appropriate on legislative issues.
<br><br>- Maintain database and access to legislative information in order to identify potential legislative action, which may affect the companys financial or operational performance.
<br><br>- Coordinate and perform all day-to-day operations for the Pepco Holdings PAC including monthly Board meetings.
Maintain contributions database.
Ensure Pepco Holdings PAC operates in accordance with its by-laws and state election commission laws.
Organize annual Fall fest and fundraising events for government officials when needed.
<br><br>- Develop and maintain relationships with elected officials and their staffs to address constituent issues.
Maintain database of government officials and draft correspondence as needed to communicate Pepco Holdings position on legislation.
Assist the lobbyist as needed.
<br><br>- Maintain records for reporting lobbying expenses quarterly in order to comply with the State Senate and the Security and Exchange Commissions reporting and record keeping standards.
<br><br>POSITION SPECIFICATIONS<br><br>Minimum: <br><br>- Bachelors degree in Political Science, Governmental Studies, Public Affairs or related field AND 5- 8 years experience in public administration or public service, OR in lieu of Bachelors degree, a minimum of 9 - 12 years public administration or public service experience required<br><br>- Knowledge of internal customer service and operational departments within a utility company<br><br>- Excellent organizational, written and communication skills<br><br>- Demonstrated knowledge of the legislative process and ability to build working relationships with elected officials and their staffs<br><br>- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance<br><br>- Valid drivers license</p><br><p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM:0px;MARGIN-TOP:0px;"><br>Preferred: <br><br>- Graduate degree</p><br><p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM:0px;MARGIN-TOP:0px;"> </p><br><p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM:0px;MARGIN-TOP:0px;">- Prior knowledge of the legislative process<br></p>|
