Energize your career at Exelon!<br><br> PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES<br><br>- Approximately 18 months of instruction leading to an electric or gas, transmission, distribution or substation discipline. <br><br>- During the first 6 to 12 months of the program assigned as a trainee to the Utility Learning Center for cognitive learning, as well as physical attainment of the skills of the trade. ?<br><br>- Under the direction of qualified instructors learn how to interpret construction drawings, standards, safety practices, work procedures and regulations#CD# and apply that knowledge to the construction, maintenance and service of both gas and electric utility infrastructure and limited customer equipment. <br><br>- Interact and communicate with the public utilizing verbal communication skills in confrontational situations. ?<br><br>POSITION SPECIFICATIONS<br><br>Minimum: <br><br>- Ability to interpret and accurately follow technical instructions. <br><br>- Physical ability to perform assigned job duties, (e. g. , ability to lift 50 lbs. or greater#CD# climb 90 ft utility poles#CD# work from ladders and aerial lifts#CD# work in manholes, underground utility vaults and excavated trenches#CD# operate heavy duty construction equipment. )<br><br>- Ability to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration weight restriction (275 lbs. ) for bucket trucks and manhole entry when wearing required tools. <br><br>- Willingness to work under adverse working conditions (e. g. , inclement weather and vehicular traffic). <br><br>- Willingness to work shift, weekend and mandatory overtime. <br><br>- Satisfactory completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades Test Battery. <br><br>- Valid drivers license and the ability to meet Company driving standards. ?<br><br>- Ability to obtain appropriate Commercial Drivers License, Class A, where applicable. <br><br>- Must pass U. S. Department of Transportation Chemical Test. <br><br>- Ability to operate in both Gas &#CD# Electric emergency situations. <br><br>- Ability to operate and update a Mobile Data Terminal. <br><br>- Ability to Diagnose, Analyze and Investigate illegal and unsafe hazards on all utility equipment. <br><br>- Ability to comprehend training modules and successfully pass written and practical demonstration testing. <br><br>- Training, education and/or experience in a technical or vocational field#CD# or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience. <br>
