Energize your career at Exelon!<br><br><br><br> PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES<br><br>Directs others and performs the more complicated duties related to gas meter work, including the installation of welded piping systems, high volume gas pressure regulation and over pressure protection and associated programming. ? Must satisfy Department of Transportation requirements as an approved BGE pipeline welder. As a welder you must carry the ASME certification for Stick(SMAW) & Mig(FCAW) welding procedures. Must also be competent in the operation of a Plasma Arc Cutter on piping and various size structural steels. Installs, changes, repairs and services Industrial and Commercial gas piping, metering and pressure regulating equipment. ? Interprets prints, engineering drawings, orders materials, lays out screw pipe, welded piping and fabricates large volume gas measurement installations. ? Contacts customers, Gas & Electric New Business and contractors to coordinate complex installation work. ? Arranges equipment shutdowns and by-pass operations with commercial/industrial customers for maintenance or emergency repairs. ? Is required to wear BGE approved PPE? including? fire retardant clothing and appropriate welding gear. ? Inspects and overhauls gas pressure regulators, relief valves and monitoring configurations on customer's premises. Inspects customer's premises to survey proposed meter installation. ? Plans proposed layout for meter regulator equipment and designs piping configurations for installation. Coordinates specification requirements with Meter Engineering personnel on the approved design and specifications for Industrial and Commercial Gas Measurement equipment. ? Uses and maintains various power tools, welding equipment, rigging devices, crane truck with large knuckle boom, electronic gauges and meter proving equipment. ? Operates personal computer. ? Works with Company personnel to install equipment for tests, demand and load studies. During storm related issues will be required to assist with restoration efforts. ? Keeps abreast of applicable codes relating to Company and customers service regulators, meters and service lines. ? Provides relief for Measurement Specialist and Meter Inspector as required. ? Responds to gas emergencies, makes repairs to piping and measurement equipment and restores gas service to I&C customers. <br><br>Note: Is required to respond and work during emergencies. ?<br><br>Physical stamina to perform heavy work, climb ladders, scaffolds, and man-lift in all kinds of weather. <br><br>Performs other job duties as assigned. <br><br>Operates crane truck and other Company vehicles. <br>?<br><br>POSITION SPECIFICATIONS<br><br>Minimum: <br><br>Knowledge: <br><br>- Working knowledge of Company's gas service, metering procedures and equipment, extensive knowledge of gas, general knowledge of electricity and appropriate National Gas and Electric Codes. <br><br>Skills/Abilities: <br><br>- Demonstrated ability to adequately handle emergency situations. <br><br>- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. ???<br><br>- Must pass US Department of Transportation required chemical test. <br><br>- Valid Level 1 authorization or appropriate Commercial Driver's License, ability to meet Company driving standards may be required to satisfy Hazmat qualifications and ability to meet Company driving standards. <br><br>Education/Experience: <br><br>- Over four years work experience in meter installation or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience. <br>
