Make adjustments following prescribed procedures and current practices to maintain chemistry control within limits. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Operate the plant and/or temporary boilers in a safe and efficient manner, following all plant procedures, health and safety policies and current operating practices. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Monitor instrumentation readings for variances from prescribed operating standards and procedures. Respond to any variances, adjust and maintain the proper operation of plant equipment. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Maintain the control room log book. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Report conditions beyond the capabilities of shift personnel to management. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Maintain the lock-out/tag-out log and monitor maintenance activities to ensure proper plant operation at all times. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Visually inspect equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair or adjustments. Record any abnormalities in the control room log. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Report and/or correct unsafe conditions or hazards. (leaks, slip hazards, safety deficiencies, etc). </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Maintain cleanliness of all the plant office spaces and common areas. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Perform minor maintenance, outage repairs and testing of equipment. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Train new employees, as required. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">This position will be required to work a rotating 12 hour shift, including shift work at night and during weekends and holidays. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">This position will be required to work overtime on a regular basis to support vacations, plant outages, emergency work, training, etc. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Other duties as assigned</font></li></ul><br><p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></p><br><p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><b style=""><u><font face="Times New Roman">EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:</font></u></b></p><br><ul style="MARGIN-TOP:0in;"><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">High school diploma or equivalent. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">5 years prior experience as a Control Room Operator in a power plant or equivalent combination of education and experience. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Strong mechanical aptitude, basic steam plant and combustion turbine knowledge. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Washington DC 1<font size="3"><sup>st</sup> Class Stationary Engineer�s license</font></font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, data, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Must be able to speak English plainly, write work orders and understand oral communications. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Able to lift/carry 50 lbs. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. </font></li><br><li class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN:0in 0in 0pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. <span style="">  </span>Decisions are made based on formal procedures, calculations, deductive reasoning, and consultation with supervisor. <span style="">       </span></font></li></ul><br style=""></font></span>
