PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES<br><br>- Performs the following cable splicing functions: digs and backfills holes in connection with buried fault repair, erects steel framework and secondary buses in vaults, installs pole riser cables and their terminations, installs cable supports in manholes and vaults, installs transformers, oil fuse cutouts and oil switches, performs less complex primary cable splices, splices energized secondary cables up to 480 V.
<br><br>- Works as the third member of an AC Network inspection and maintenance crew.
<br><br>- Under guidance inspects, tests and repairs AC network facilities.
<br><br>- Carries tools, materials, and equipment between truck and manholes or poles.
<br><br>- Assembles materials and equipment.
<br><br>- Hoists supplies to other crew members in aerial lifts and lowers equipment into manholes and vaults.
<br><br>- Climbs (and works from) poles, ladders and similar structures.
<br><br>- Drives any type of splicing or pulling truck.
<br><br>- Operates boom, aerial bucket lift, rodder/puller, and auxiliary power equipment.
<br><br>- Tows various types of trailers.
<br><br>- Maintains adequate truck stock of tools and materials.
<br><br>- Inspects tools periodically to insure that they are in good operating condition.
<br><br>- Exchanges worn or defective tools.
<br><br>- Prepares time sheets and various forms, for approval by crew leader or supervisor.
<br><br>- Sets up work area protection in accordance with OSHA and Company regulations.
<br><br>- Operates pump, drill, winch, generator, air compressor, air hammer, voltmeter, ammeter, hydraulic tools, and powered equipment on various types of trailers, (e.
, Reel King and Cable Scrapper).
<br><br>- Is required to work during emergencies.
<br><br>- Comprises a job family with Cable Splicer Trainee.
<br><br>POSITION SPECIFICATIONS<br><br>Minimum: <br><br>- Willingness to work under adverse conditions of weather, vehicular traffic and energized electric cables.
<br><br>- Ability to operate power equipment, drive trucks, install electrical equipment.
<br><br>- Valid Level 1 authorization or appropriate Commercial Driver' s License, and ability to meet Company driving standards.
<br><br>- Satisfactory completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades Test Battery.
<br><br>- Subject to shift work.
<br><br>- Physical ability to perform job duties.
<br><br>- Must successfully complete the training for Cable Splicer Trainee, which is approximately two years.
