​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​I have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (concentration in Power System​s) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from DePaul University. I’ve had several roles at ComEd within my 11-year career first as a Distribution Design engineer, then a Transmission Planning engineer and I also became the Engineering Trainer for ComEd. I am currently the Engineering Training manager for ComEd.

Tell us about your job at Exelon.

I oversee the training for over 600 engineering employees, the OSHA compliance training for all of ComEd, all web based training creation and several other duties. I am currently the Training project manager for the new 48,000 sq. ft. Chicago Training Center building.

What made you want to work for Exelon?

What made me want to work for Exelon were the opportunities that existed for me as an electrical engineer on all levels of the power system. I can work on the generating, transmission and distribution systems and still stay within the company.

What do you like most about working for Exelon?

What I enjoy most about my company is our commitment to our customers. When I see ComEd employees working to restore power in communities that were severely hit by storms it makes me proud to know that I play a part in ensuring they will be ok. I tell my friends and family that I have “ComEd blood” running through my veins. The willingness to help people (employees and customers) not just from a utility standpoint but from volunteering, to seeking ways to improve communications and relations, is a real testament to what we do every day.

Are you part of any Exelon Employee Resource Groups?

Currently, I am a part of the ComEd GrADS group as well as EAARA. I actually started the GrADS group 7 years ago due to a need for a forum for young engineers at the company. I currently support EAARA by being a part of their core team. I help plan events for its members and I co-chair the annual scholarship event at their annual golf outing. Every few years I try to volunteer with a different ERG. In the past I have supported NEW, AACES, and SHPE.

What activities do you participate in outside of work?

Outside of work I am heavily involved in activities with my church and sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. I am also a member of SWE and I support IEEE. I have spoken on panels and have given presentations at many SWE and IEEE conferences. I also volunteer to support STEM organizations and have been a mentor with the Exelon Stay in School program for the past 7 years.​​​​

A Day in the Life

6:30 AM
I usually plugin from home before heading into the office at 8:00 AM.
8:00 AM​
No day is typical for me. Most of my days are filled with meetings, conferenc​e calls to discuss projects or helping a team complete their assignments. Sometimes instances will arise and have to take care of a safety issue or concern in the classroom. I spend quite a bit of time explaining to internal business units what training is and is not.
6:30 PM
There are certain points throughout the year where I spend a majority of my time determining which departments need or do not need certain OSHA training. A lot of regulation research and legal support are need to be reviewed and try tackle this before heading home.
