MARSEILLES, Ill. (May 7, 2008) - LaSalle Generating Station will present 24 laptop computers to the Grundy County Emergency Support Team on Thursday, May 8.

These computers will be used for emergency communications within Grundy, LaSalle and Will Counties, which support Exelon Nuclear's Braidwood, Dresden and LaSalle stations during emergency exercises and emergent events.

"We greatly appreciate LaSalle's generous donation," said Bob Cockream, emergency coordinator for the Grundy County ARES (amateur radio emergency services) and team leader for Grundy County Emergency Management. "The laptops will improve our communicators' mobility and will help ensure our team is ready to protect the public when called upon."

"The employees of LaSalle Station are proud to support the important services provided by these emergency communicators who volunteer in their counties' emergency operating centers," said Dan Enright, LaSalle Station site vice president. "Emergency communicators play a critical role in protecting the health and safety of our local communities."

LaSalle Generating Station is a proud member of the community. In 2007 alone, the station contributed either through donations or employee volunteerism to more than 30 local organizations. With both units running at full power, LaSalle generates enough electricity to power more than 2 million homes.
