September 18, 2008 - LaSalle County Generating Station Makes Generous Donation To Illinois Valley Anti-Drug Coalition

MARSEILLES, Ill. (Sept. 18, 2008) Exelon Nuclear’s LaSalle County Generating Station presented a $1,000 grant to the Illinois Valley Anti-Drug Coalition today at the Coalition's headquarters in Ottawa, Ill. to help the organization continue its efforts in striving for a drug-free society.

“LaSalle Station is proud to give back to the community with grants like this,” said Dan Enright, site vice president of LaSalle Station, also a resident of Ottawa. “There are many volunteers with the Illinois Valley Anti-Drug Coalition who are making a real difference in our local communities by promoting a safe, healthy, drug-free lifestyle.”

The Illinois Valley Anti-Drug Coalition’s mission is to bring the community together in an effort to reduce substance abuse in the Ottawa area. The coalition unites area families, schools, churches, civic organizations, law enforcement agencies, prevention and treatment agencies, hospitals, community-based social service organizations and government agencies.

“We truly appreciate the financial support, along with the volunteerism that employees of LaSalle Station and other area organizations provide to our Coalition,” said Brenden Donahue, President of the Illinois Valley Anti-Drug Coalition. “We use grants like this to further enhance our anti-drug programs and increase communication about this important social issue within our local communities.”

LaSalle  Station is located approximately 75 miles southwest of Chicago.  With both units at full power, the site produces more than 2,200 megawatts net, which is enough electricity for 2.3 million homes.
