PHILADELPHIA (April 24, 2008) – PECO invites its customers to celebrate Arbor Day 2008 by signing up for e-Bill and immediately reducing paper waste and saving trees.
e-Bill is a free service that delivers bills monthly to customers electronically. Customers are also able to pay their bill online from their personal checking account. This feature saves 12 paper checks per year per customer, as well as about $5 in postage. Access to payment history, pending payments, bill images and the ability to pay bills are available through PECO’s Web site.
“PECO is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and we are offering programs to help our customers do the same,” said Denis O’Brien, president and CEO of PECO. “We support efforts to increase energy efficiency by providing our customers with the tools they need to use energy wisely. Arbor Day and Earth Week serve as the perfect time to encourage our customers to sign up for such convenient and easy-to-use paperless services such as e-Bill.”
e-Bill is just one of many tools PECO offers to help its customers reduce carbon emissions and save energy. Customers can visit http://www.peco.com/save to learn more about EasySave Energy Kits to become more energy efficient, calculate potential savings with free Energy Savings calculators and shop the Online Energy Store to purchase discounted products that help save energy and money.
Everyone can play a part in reducing their individual carbon footprint – a measure of the impact human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide. A carbon footprint can be reduced by limiting energy usage in homes and vehicles and also limiting the use of paper and minimizing waste.
If 50,000 of PECO’s customers signed up for e-Bill, 38 tons of carbon waste would be eliminated from polluting our environment.
