The answer my friend is blowing in the wind. Well, at least some energy can be created using wind power. Wind farms have become increasingly popular as a source of environmentally friendly energy because no fossil fuel is used to generate the power.
At this exhibit, students can build their own miniature windmills and test them in our custom-made wind tunnel to determine the effectiveness of the design.
Exelon Wind, a division of Exelon Power, owns and operates 36 wind projects. Located in eight states, the wind projects can produce 735 megawatts (MW) of clean electricity, enough to power 160,000 to 220,000 households. Exelon also has contracted for more than 352 MW of power generated at five wind farms in Illinois, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
