ExTex LaPorte is Exelon’s first wholly-owned power plant in Texas. It provides power to customers in the Houston regions during peak demand situations. The 4 combustion turbines on-site are maintained by Airco Industries.
Emergency Planning
All Exelon facilities employ sophisticated emergency response plans to protect public health and safety. These plans are reviewed and approved by state governments and regulatory agencies. The emergency planning includes coordination with local counties, municipalities and school districts.
Supporting the Local Economy
Exelon Power's three fossil plants in Texas at Handley, Mountain Creek and ExTex LaPorte generate a total of 2,222 megawatts and employ 88 workers. Exelon contributes $1.9 million per year in state tax payments in Texas.
