Colorado Bend Generating Station

Colorado Bend Generating Station

Colorado Bend Generating Station is owned and operated by Exelon Power, a business unit of Exelon Generation. Colorado Bend is a six unit, 498 megawatt (MW) fossil power plant located in Wharton County, Texas.

The units at Colorado Bend are natural gas fueled combined-cycle turbines.  Phase I of Colorado Bend went into commercial operation in May 2007 with phase II following in July 2008.  Colorado Bend joined Exelon Power’s fleet in 2012 as part of Exelon’s merger with Constellation.

Emergency Planning

All Exelon facilities employ sophisticated emergency response plans to protect public health and safety.  These plans are reviewed and approved by state governments and regulatory agencies.  The emergency planning includes coordination with local counties, municipalities and school districts.

Supporting the Local Economy

Colorado Bend Generating Station pays local real estate taxes every year to support county and township government, area schools, libraries, park districts and other taxing bodies.
