As one of the nation’s leading energy companies, Exelon is a 24/7 operation, particularly for field employees.  As such, we are a company dedicated to having a safe, drug-free workplace.  Exelon requires that all employees receive mandatory drug screenings and background investigations.  In addition to these standard requirements for all positions, certain areas within the Exelon family of companies may have their own specific employment requirements.

All Positions

Exelon Corporation is dedicated to a drug-free, safe workplace where all employees receive mandatory drug screenings and background investigations.

 
Positions with our power generation companies
  • Employees in positions requiring access to our nuclear plants must go through an extensive and rigorous background investigation, including fingerprinting, psychological exam and a secondary drug screen and alcohol screen.
  • Many employees are required to be part of the Emergency Preparedness Organization as part of their responsibilities.
  • Exelon nuclear plants are patrolled with armed security inside and outside of the plant.
  • Some non-exempt positions are represented by unions and would require joining the local union chapter.
  • Exelon is a 24/7 operation, particularly for field employees.  Some positions require shift work and some of the shift schedules are rotating schedules.
  • When there are outages at the nuclear plants, all employees at that plant are required to put in time beyond their normally scheduled hours.
  • Some positions require local travel within a designated service region.
 
 
Positions with our utility companies
  • Our distribution and delivery companies are 24/7 operations, particularly for field employees.  Some positions require all employees to participate in a rotating schedule for on-call duty for emergency preparedness.
  • Exelon Corporation is dedicated to having a safe workplace. Some field positions for ComEd and PECO may require the use of safety equipment and harnesses.
  • Some non-exempt positions are represented by unions and would require joining the local union chapter.
  • Some positions require shift work and some of the shift schedules are rotating schedules.
  • Some positions require local travel within a designated service region.
