POTTSTOWN, PA - Limerick Generating Station Unit 1 resumed producing electricity at 8:37 AM EDT Sunday, June 27 following repairs to electrical equipment.
Limerick Unit 1 was manually taken offline by operators at 8:51 PM on June 23 as a result of an electrical fault on a non-safety portion of the plant. The plant responded as expected, safely and without incident. There was no risk to the public and no injuries associated with the event.
Limerick Unit 2 continued to generate electricity during the Unit 1 outage. Limerick Generating Station is located approximately 21 miles northwest of Philadelphia. With both units at full power, the site can produce enough carbon-free electricity for 2 million homes.
