Oyster Creek Station to Offer Community An Opportunity to Learn More about Nuclear Energy

Public invited to learn about station operations Oct. 29 at Community Information Night

FORKED RIVER, N.J. - Exelon Nuclear's Oyster Creek Generating Station will host a Community Information Night Thursday, Oct. 29. This unique, one-on-one forum is

designed to inform and update the plant's neighbors about plant operations and nuclear energy issues.

The event is open to the public and will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET at the station's
education center. The Oyster Creek Education Center is located off of Route 9 on Intake View Lane, just north of the plant's main entrance in Forked River.

Exelon representatives and technical experts will be on hand to provide information on nuclear energy topics including plant operations, tritium, used fuel storage, safety, security, the environment and community outreach efforts. There will also be take-away information. Light refreshments will be served.

"Exelon Nuclear is committed to this community. We consider it our responsibility to listen to our neighbors, answer questions and offer the opportunity to learn more about Oyster Creek and nuclear energy," said Mike Massaro, site vice president. "This community information night is one of many ways that we hope will provide answers to our neighbors and confirms our dedication to our community."

Oyster Creek is about 60 miles east of Philadelphia in Ocean County, New Jersey. The plant produces 636 net megawatts of electricity at full power, enough electricity to supply 600,000 typical homes, the equivalent to all homes in Monmouth and Ocean counties combined. In addition, plant workers, through their payrolls, are responsible for more $96 million injected directly into New Jersey's economy.
