Oyster Creek Web Site has Latest, Helpful Information on Tritium

Go to www.oystercreektritium.com for information about tritium, nuclear energy

Exelon Nuclear's Oyster Creek Generating Station announced today an updated Web site for quicker access and current information regarding tritium, nuclear energy and the power plant. The site, http://www.oystercreektritium.com, is designed to inform and update the public about tritium, in addition to providing other useful information.

"We want people to have access to useful information about our plant," said David Benson, Oyster Creek communications manager. "It is our obligation to be open and transparent with the public," Benson said. "This Web site gives us an opportunity to bring the plant to the public by posting documents and maps we think will help the public have a better understanding of our operations."

On the site, the general public can find an updated narrative of the tritium issue at Oyster Creek, maps showing the affected plume areas, documents and correspondence with our regulators, additional resources to find even more information and helpful facts about tritium, nuclear energy and the Oyster Creek Generating Station.

In addition to the Web site, Oyster Creek invites the public to attend Community Information Night on Thursday, June 10. This one-on-one forum is designed to inform and update the plant's neighbors about plant operations and nuclear energy issues.

Community Information Night is open to the public and will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the station's education center. The Oyster Creek Education Center is located off of Route 9 on Intake View Lane, just north of the plant's main entrance in Forked River.

Oyster Creek is about 60 miles east of Philadelphia in Ocean County, N.J. The plant produces 636 net megawatts of electricity at full power, enough electricity to supply 600,000 typical homes, the equivalent to all homes in Monmouth and Ocean counties combined. In addition, plant workers, through their payrolls, are responsible for more $96 million injected directly into New Jersey's economy.
