DeWitt County Public Notification System Powered By Exelon

Clinton, IL – DeWitt County will be purchasing a new notification system to alert citizens during emergencies, in part, with a contribution from Exelon. This new crisis communications tool serves as a reliable method of mass communication that will fully and automatically inform the community of issues allowing first responders and emergency personnel to focus on providing the aid and services needed.

Exelon’s Clinton Power Station recently hosted county and community leaders for an informational luncheon and presented a check for $10,000 to DeWitt County in continuing support of the new system. “This capability makes DeWitt County residents safer,” said DeWitt County Sherriff, Jered Shofner. “We would not have this without Exelon’s continue support. Clinton Power Station is a great neighbor and a huge player in keeping DeWitt County safe,” Shofner said.

The new notification system can instantly send large volumes of interactive calls to landlines, mobile devices, answering machines and voicemail and can also be web-based.  It’s a total system that provides everything needed to deliver outbound calls in the event of disasters, child abductions, severe weather, school closings or major road construction.

“Working hand-in-hand with community first responders multiple times in a given year keeps us all on the same page,” said Bill Noll, site vice president for Clinton Power Station, “and continuing our support for this system is one more way we can do that and it makes the station and the community a safer place to be.”
