Oyster Creek Breaks Pledge Record in 2011 United Way Campaign
Oyster Creek employees donate nearly $286,000 to United Way of Ocean County in the annual campaign.
Forked River, New Jersey -- The men and women of the Oyster Creek Generating Station pledged more donations to the United Way of Ocean County’s 2011 campaign than ever before, and clearly situated the company as the county’s largest contributor to the agency.
The campaign, which began in early May with personal employee pledges and culminated with the Oyster Creek annual United Way Golf Outing in late June, garnered $285,890 – a new record, not only for Oyster Creek, but for United Way of Ocean County as well.
This year, nearly one out of every four dollars from United Way of Ocean County actually comes from Oyster Creek donations. The agencies under the United Way of Ocean County are wide-reaching. About one out of every five Ocean County residents are served through one of the UW-funded organizations.
“Please accept my heartfelt thanks for this amazing dedication,” said Linda Gyimoty,
Executive Director of United Way of Ocean County. "One of my favorite quotes from Margaret Mead states, ‘Never doubt that a small group of dedicated people can change the world, indeed it is the only thing that ever has.’ Thank you for helping to change our world!”
“Most of the men and women who work at Oyster Creek live in Ocean County and want to help their communities, their neighbors,” said Mike Massaro, Site Vice President at Oyster Creek. “Their donations to United Way are a true demonstration of their pride and generosity.”
