Dresden Station Provides Over $30,000 in Community Support During First Half of 2010

Dresden gives back to the local community

MORRIS, Ill. (July 21, 2010) – While generating electricity is its core business, Exelon Nuclear’s Dresden Station prides itself on being a good neighbor through a variety of philanthropic contributions and sponsorships.

So far this year, Dresden and its employees have donated more than $30,000 to a wide range of organizations in communities surrounding the station.

“Dresden strives to be a good neighbor and a good corporate citizen,” said Site Vice President Tim Hanley. “In addition to sponsoring various events and contributing to worthwhile organizations in the area, many of our employees volunteer their time and talents to help those in need.”

“Channahon Minooka Rotary thanks Dresden Station for its support of our Community Caring Day,” said Noreen Dollinger, club president. The event, which is held each spring, showcases the many resources available to families in the Channahon-Minooka area. “With Exelon’s partnership, this event has gained momentum over the years and provides real value to our community.”

Other area organizations that have received support from Dresden include:
 Morris Hospital Auxiliary
 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will and Grundy County
 Dwight Public Schools
 Senior Services Center of Will County
 Mazon Fire District
 Coal City High School and Morris High School Prom Fests
 Coal City Concerts in the Park
 Gus Macker Basketball Tournament
 Carbon Hill Homecoming Assoc.
 South Wilmington Elementary School Parents’ Group
 Several local scouting and park district programs

As in past years, the station again plans to sponsor the Grundy County Corn Festival fireworks display and is considering requests for funding from other groups.

Dresden Generating Station is approximately 60 miles southwest of Chicago. The station’s two operating units can produce more than 1,700 megawatts net of electricity per hour. Dresden Unit 1, which began commercial operation in 1960 and was retired in 1978, has been designated a Nuclear Historic Landmark by the American Nuclear Society.
