Kennett Square, PA (March 12, 2009) - Exelon Generation Company, LLC filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) a Pre-Application Document (PAD) and Notification of Intent (NOI) to file a new license application for the Muddy Run Pumped Storage Project located in Drumore, Pennsylvania on the Susquehanna River in Lancaster and York Counties.
The filings are part of a multi-year re-licensing process for the Muddy Run Project.
The Pre-Application Document or the PAD contains existing information about the project. The Notice of Intent, or NOI is just that; Exelon's notice to FERC that it intends to seek re-licensing of the project. The Muddy Run Project's current license runs through September 1, 2014.
Built in 1967, Muddy Run's authorized installed generating capacity is 800 MW of electricity. That is enough energy to power some 640 thousand homes (1 MW= roughly 800 homes).
Copies of the PAD are available for public inspection during regular business hours at the Muddy Run Visitor's Center at Muddy Run Recreation Park 172 Bethesda Church W, Holtwood, Pennsylvania.
