  Peach Bottom Donates $40,000 to Delta-Cardiff V.F.D

Station Leaders Recognize Community during 40th Anniversary Celebration

Delta, PA- Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station celebrated its 40th Anniversary on Friday, June 20. To mark the occasion, station leaders donated $40,000 to the Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company during an anniversary celebration at the site. Delta-Cardiff V.F.D. serves as the “first responder” to the station and has played a key role in the station’s emergency preparedness plan since 1974.

“We are very proud to celebrate 40 years of service at Peach Bottom,” said Site Vice President Mike Massaro. “This donation is a symbol of our ongoing commitment to the community and the local organizations vital to our success.”

During the event, Massaro presented a ceremonial check to Fire Company President Jeff Griffith, in front of nearly 800 station employees and family members.

“On behalf of the volunteers and our whole community, we want to thank Peach Bottom for its continued support. Whether through contributions or volunteer time, you continually make an impact and we all appreciate what you bring to Delta,” Griffith said.

Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station is located on the west bank of the Conowingo Pond (Susquehanna River) in York County, Pa.  The two operating reactors (Units 2 and 3) were started in July and December of 1974. The two boiling water reactors are capable of generating 2,280 megawatts combined.
