Exelon Generation and the Streator Police and Fire Departments are teaming up to put their respective industries’ best safety features on display during the LaSalle County Generating Station community information night.
MARSEILLES, Ill. (May 13, 2014) — Exelon Generation and the Streator Police and Fire Departments are teaming up to put their respective industries’ best safety features on display during the LaSalle County Generating Station community information night. The event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20 at the Streator City Hall Community Room.
Experts from LaSalle Station will be on hand to answer questions on nuclear power, while the Streator Police and Fire Departments will be showcasing both a fire truck and squad car for public viewing. Finger printing kits for children will be available and the first 10 people who attend the event will receive a free smoke detector.
“This is a great opportunity for us to partner with Exelon,” said Streator Police Deputy Chief Robert Turner. “Like Exelon, the police and fire department have safety as our top priority.”
LaSalle Station employees will talk about the multiple layers of safety systems, the many security enhancements, emergency preparedness and environmental stewardship programs at the station.
Community information night is an important part of LaSalle Station’s ongoing community outreach program, designed to engage and inform the public on station operations. Station employees are active in the community by volunteering, hosting tours, visiting area schools, appearing at community events and financially supporting dozens of civic organizations throughout the year.
The Streator City Hall Community Room is located at 204 S. Bloomington St. in Streator.
