BRACEVILLE, ILL - Braidwood Station Unit 1 returned to service this morning at 5:43 a.m., when operators connected the plant's turbine generator to the regional power grid.

The unit automatically shut down Monday, Sept. 20, due to a faulty electrical circuit card on a plant system. Plant personnel replaced the circuit card.

Braidwood Generating Station is approximately 60 miles southwest of Chicago. The station's two nuclear energy units can produce a total of more than 2,300 megawatts net at full power - enough electricity to power more than 2 million homes.
